Roots & Rise Youth Leadership & Safe Futures helps youth ages 11 to 17 build confidence, leadership skills, healthy decision-making habits, and stronger connections to school, family, and community.

Who this program is for

Youth ages 11 to 17 who live in Clarksdale, Coahoma County, or nearby Mississippi Delta communities. Youth may join through family interest, school or community referral, partner referral, or open enrollment when activities are available.

What participants may experience

• Youth leadership and life-skills sessions

• Goal setting and personal growth activities

• Academic encouragement and school-success support

• Youth safety, healthy decision-making, and conflict-resolution education

• Arts, sports, recreation, fitness, and enrichment activities

• Service projects and volunteer opportunities

• School visits and youth motivation activities

• Partner-led opportunities, such as tennis, when available

What families can expect

Families can expect clear communication about activity dates, expectations, transportation arrangements if offered, required forms, safety procedures, and any costs or supplies. Parent or guardian consent is required for youth participation.

• Show respect for peers, staff, volunteers, and partners.

• Participate safely and follow program expectations.

• Communicate with staff or a parent or guardian when support is needed.

• Take part in activities with a willingness to learn, grow, and contribute.
